Brand new Bramblebury Band still nameless

Post date: Sep 17, 2010 12:52:21 PM

It was a warm and lush autumn evening. Many inhabitants of Bramblebury had one or more windows of their burrows open. One of them, Miss Akelay of 4 Wending street, heard a faint strain of music entering her home. It must come from the stage, she reckoned and walked out in the direction of the quite appealing music. On her short way over, she beckoned other hobbit-folk to come with her and these in turn gave warning to yet more inhabitants. Soon a little crowd had gathered around the Bramblebury stage where a number of hobbits

was playing music in an very artfull fashion. There were a few well-known faces among them,

inhabitants of our beloved neighbourhood and others. As the musicians kept playing the

audience could not keep still and started to dance. They cried for more as soon as there

was a period that the musicians started to discuss their own efforts. This is not a concert,

you know, they exclaimed, it is a rehearsal for tomorrow!

During the intermissions pies exchanged hands and were consumed as the next tune to be

played was being discussed. At one of  these opportunities this reporter pulled a musician

aside to gather more information. What is the name of this band? Do they perform often? Ah,

the musician said, while munching on a biscuit, I don't know, I am just here to help out. This

well-known face belonged to another band, the Songburrow Strollers, who recently had an

overwhelming performance in the Greenfields.

But this was a brand new band, one local to Bramblebury. A name they did not have yet.

Several suggestions for a name were made by the musicians themselves and audience

alike, but it is still undecided what it will be. Of more importance was the announcement that

they will play at the Green Dragon, not only this friday, but on a regular basis. Maybe even

every week? Everyone was invited to come to The Green Dragon on friday night. Lots of

things happen there every week as you may well have read in this Gazette.

We also spoke with Mr. Basil Goodbody, local partyplanner, who categorically denied that

there had been some sort of party at the stage this night. No, he said, I did not organise

anything of the sort! It was NOT a party! Now, since music had been played and danced to,

pies had been eaten and a good time was had by several, that counts as a party in our book!

Mr. Goodbody, mumbled something about illegal use of "his" stage, without his explicit

consent and walked away from the scene.

ADDENDUM

Meanwhile Green Dragon night has passed and the band performed several dances in their now customary burgundy costumes. The audience was delighted to hear them and kept asking for more. And for a name, which they still do not seem to have. With guest appearances of two members of the Songburrow Strollers, the performance was a succes and kept those present wanting for more. Luckily it is Green Dragon night every friday!
