Another Warm Burrow in Bramblebury! (Updated)

By Tibba Stoutfoot  We are happy to report that on Sunday, May 15th, the burrow in 2 Pleasant Street, Bramblebury, was successfully warmed by many hobbits. All day long anticipation had been high, with children constantly running around in front of the entrance to get a peek at the party preparations (and report back to their parents), and at seven o'clock in the evening, the long-awaited moment had finally arrived! The guests came in a steady stream, admiring the beautiful garden with its bright flowers as they ascended the path that led to the burrow. The proud owners, Miss Amorey Lullabella Wildstrawberry Sweetrose and Master Peppy Bristlebrush, stood at the entrance, welcoming the guests with food and drink and flowers, and soon the garden was filled with lively chatter as the day's news were shared. When most of the guests had arrived, the party started in earnest: Amorey and Peppy, who are already well-known and loved as Hobbit Heart, welcomed their guests again with their delightful songs just made for gentle swaying, to which Miss Amorey sang in her clear, beautiful voice. Miss Bootsy then took over to allow the hosts to see to the comfort of their guests. To the surprise of all, the dancing bear suddenly stood in the midst of the guests, dancing nimbly to Miss Bootsy's tunes! Food and drink were aplenty, and it was already a well-filled crowd (including one bear) hopping merrily when Miss Amorey and Master Peppy thanked Miss Bootsy and took back the "stage", which was a lovely spot beneath a large oak tree. They proceeded to regal their guests with more of their songs, which was acknowledged with many a cheer, and ended with a lovely song sung by Miss Amorey for which they even enlisted Master Simbo's help. Master Simbo then took the opportunity to sing a song he had written for the occasion, to the accompaniment of Miss Lina, and afterwards more hobbits stepped forward with presents for the new burrow-owners.
More songs followed, and dancing in the beautiful garden or admiring the view from the front porch, which on a clear day encompasses even the mill beyond the stream, all hobbits agreed that it was a most lovely burrow. When it grew dark, a fire was built, and Amorey again told her charming story about how the Green Dragon got its name. A bit of a stir was caused later in the evening by a message from the Thain: It seems that the Thain is a great admirer of Hobbit Heart, as he kindly ordered several gallons of pumpkin-orange paint to be delivered to the couple as a burrow-warming present. Needless to say, they both were too moved for words. The evening ended with a marvellous show of fireworks, and it was a contented group of hobbits that stood there on the grass, one by one bidding the new burrow-owners a good night. All agreed that it had been a grand party, and the inhabitants of Bramblebury were particularily happy to have the couple as neighbours. Dear Amorey and Peppy: welcome to the neighbourhood!
Gather closer, all you hobbits, and let's give a merry cheer
To this young and charming couple, who are hosting us all here
We have Amorey to thank here, for when this home became free
She said, 'Oh, I don't mind moving,' and they moved beneath this tree.
And it is for this good reason we are gathered at this spot
With its beauty of a garden, fragrant smells from flower pots
And a burrow that can rival any king's home on its hill
Which I bet has not the flowers growing on this windowsill
With each burrow that is sold, there is always cause for cheer

Master Peppy we all know here, for his songs and lovely tunes

With the warm and happy feelings that a dear good neighbour brings
And dear Amorey I can't tell you what a joy it was to me
When you told me that from now on our neighbour you would be
I admit I was excited - I sure felt like a young lass
When we talked about you moving on this very piece of grass
