With Planting behind us and the summer weather warming up, the Fed Poets' Society will be taking our picnic a little further afield: to Staddle!
The theme this month is Travelling!
The suggested poetry type this month is the Sonnet! The sonnet is one of the oldest poetic forms. The word Sonnet comes from a word meaning “little song.”
A sonnet has just fourteen lines, with three quatrains –that is a group of four lines— and a couplet –a group of two lines—at the end. The end of each line rhymes with another line in a strict pattern.
The rhyming pattern is as follows:
Stanza 1: ABAB
Stanza 2: CDCD
Stanza 3: EFEF
Couplet: GG
Bring your own work, or a favourite author's! We will gather at the Staddle Gate of Bree and wander to a nice spot along the tree lined lane there.
If you have any travel concerns, please let Master Aerinbard Fallohide know and arrangements can be made.
Staddle Gate of Bree at 7:30p,m (UK Time), June 11th
Hope to see you there!
