Tuckborough. Home to Tooks and Thains.

The seat of power in the Shire, where hobbit legends whisper to you from the smial walls.

Welcome to a hobbit historical field trip!

Date: Sunday February 18

Time: 7:30PM ((UK, 2:30PM servertime))

Location: Meet in the center of Tuckborough, The Shire. We’ll walk around a bit from there!

About the field trip

Just who is the Thain, and what are his responsibilities? How did them Tooks end up as a rich and powerful hobbit family? What are the stories surrounding the great willow near Tuckborough? Oh, and who are some of those strange and notable Tooks anyways?

Answers to these questions, and possibly more, may be given during the Tuckborough historical field trip. There are no guarantees, though!

Meet up in the center of Tuckborough. After a short walk, our historians will present stories, tales, poetry and/or songs related to hobbit lore. Food WILL be served, but of course, any hobbit knows that the safest bet is to bring some of yer own.

The hobbit historical field trips have been arranged ever since autumn 2009. They aim to combine a few lectures/stories of hobbit lore with songs, poetry and entertainment.

The Tuckborough Field Trip has been arranged once before, in December 2013.

Given the subject matter, this is a hobbit-preferred event. Should the odd lore-seeking dwarf, man or elf interested in hobbit lore choose to show up, they won’t be chased away. However, you just KNOW that it will be much more fun if you rolled up a hobbit alt for the evening, don’t you? If not, be prepared for puzzled looks and the odd comment about your beard and/or height during the night.

People are encouraged to listen raptly to the given lectures, and to save most of the questions to the breaks. It goes without saying that this is an in-character event, but remember that our historians have been known to go for a tall, exciting tale more than strict lore accuracy.  ))

The field trip should last between 1,5-2 hours.

Welcome along! Have fun!
