A grand turn out of 24 would-be fishing champions made for an exciting match on Saturday, February 7. In all, 505 fish were landed, including 40 catfish and 63 dace.

Our winner was Mister Potty, no stranger to fishing contests, with a grand score of 59 points (including 3 catfish, 5 dace). Runners up were:

Miss Knitbone (57 points)

Miss Seggra (47)

Miss Pennyroyal (41 points)

Mister Minteric (38)

Miss Bilberri (38 points)

In the Catfish Challenge, Miss Seggra amazed us all by landing a giant catfish of 40 pounds, believed to be a record for Staddle. Even more amazing is that this was her very first fishing competition! Runners up were Everlin, with a catfish of 38 pounds and Miss Primrrose with a catfish of 37 pounds.

Many thanks to Miss Tibba for cooking up a great spread and to Mister Pirro for his donation of fine food. And, of course, to Shire Angling Club members for all their help.

The next match will be the Annual Salmon Run, details of which will be posted here in the Gazette in due course.
