It was a fine evening in the north of the Shire and twenty resolute fisher hobbits (and one dwarf) wet their lines in search of the noble salmon. Plenty of fish were caught , a total of four hundred and seventy-eight, of which thirty were salmon. Three of these were over 40lb, two caught by Nannie, who shows that you never forget how to fish, and a whopper by Miss Molllywobbles, earning here the title of this year’s Supreme Salmon Champion, with a salmon of 49lb and 8oz. The all-time record however, is still held by Mister Simbo Rumblebelly, who landed a salmon of 57lb 3oz, some four years ago (and not Mister Potty as previously reported, who held the record before Mister Rumblebelly).

Full results are as follows:

Runners up: Nimelia, Ragwort, Wiberic, Miralith, Tulpaani and Fidgit

Fourth place with 49 points: Mister Potty

Third place with 50 points: Nannie

Second place with 56 points and a total of two salmon: Miss Tibba Stoutfoot

First place, with 56 points and a total of four salmon: Miss Kapelka

For the record books:

40-49lb salmon: 3 caught (7 points)

30-39lb salmon: 1 (6 points)

20-29lb salmon: 2 (5 points)

15-19lb salmon: 5 (4 points)

10-14lb salmon: 1 (3 points)

6-9lb salmon: 5 (2 points)

2-5lb salmon: 6 (2 points)

2-3lb salmon: 7 (2 points)

Special mention to Mister Halpo who was the least experienced fisher but narrowly missed a prize. He will be sent a special compensation prize by Quickmail.
