Fer the February OAKS we have a special treat since it's gonna be so close ta the day sweethearts give each uther presents...
The OAKS's very special present ta all the folks of Middle Earth will be
the Evendim Hillbillies!
That's rite ...ya herd me correctly...the Hillbillies will be back!!
The uther day I was havin an ale wit Onionfarmer Pete in the Bird & Baby talkin about music.
The OAKS...the Oldfurlong Amazin Koncert Series...came up and Pete told me he reckoned that the Evendim Hillbillies wood be willin ta play sum month when it not be so busy on the farm...like afore the spring plantin starts.
I was thrilled when he said them Hillbillies wood be willin ta come and play fer us cause it's bin so long since their last public concert...about a year but seems like longer ta those of us what luvs ta hear them play. Altho Master Janco has told me that they often sing ta their veggies and that's why they grow so well :)
Well I no Pete noes a lot of sweet luv songs so I suggested he could have a LOVE-ly concert near Sweethearts Day.He looked uncertain of this and I thought about the fact that he dont have no sweetie so I thought I'll help him find a lass!How about we have a contest in the middle of the concert..a onion-eatin contest ..and the lass what eats the most gets ta go on a date wit ya??You should have seen him blush...a bright crimson shade it was *chuckles*"OH NO" he says "I dont wants a date wit a lass what eats that many onions!"How about a limerick contest instead?
well...I thought about that and it seemed like a grand idea! So all yer poets out there come up wit a limerick. We gots three rules ta the contest:
ya must follow the limerick rhyme scheme.
it gots ta be about luv..fer sure
And Pete's rule: the word "onion" must appear in it, but only once!
(but "onion" does not have to be a rhyme word at the end of a sentence)
There's ta be prizes fer the best three...and all of them what writes a limerick will be invited ta a special tour of Oatbarton (later in the year) wit a very special guide...Master Onionfarmer Pete himself!

Ya dont have ta be a farmer or a hillbilly ta enjoy their lively foot-stompin music or their luv songs sweet enuf ta make ya swoon...
Master Pete and Master Janco even be writin two brand new songs!!
