December is still a few weeks away, and many might still not be in the mood for Yule. However, some are already making preparations for the upcoming merry days.
It is also time to start preparing this year’s hobbity Yule calendar, a tradition that has been thriving for 8 years already. For the calendar, anyone is welcome to send seasonal hobbity entries that will be published from 1st to 24th December in the Hobbity Yule Calendar. You don’t have to be a hobbit or even a LOTRO player to join – just a hobbit at heart!
Here are some examples of individual entries:
A Yule-themed picture, LOTRO screenshot, slideshow, drawing, or a video made by you
A Yule poem, story, or a song
An introduction to a local Yule tradition from your country/region you’d like to share to other hobbits
Your favourite Yule recipe
Yule decoration ideas, riddles, games…
Feel free to get creative as well! Each entry is valuable, so don’t be shy to share your stuff. Remember – this calendar can only happen if we get enough entries for it, so any help is very welcome! For inspiration, you can take a look at the older Yule calendars (available at the link shared above).
Let the Quickpost deliver your entries to pycellawoodberry(a)gmail.com. Please send your entries as early as you can, ideally before December, so that the calendar preparations can be made in time. If you are planning an entry that you can only send later in December, please let us know so that we can plan accordingly.
This year’s collective entry: Yule wishes!
Each year, we also put together a collective entry set around a specific theme – a slideshow video made of individual pictures, with some seasonal music playing in the background. This year, the theme of the collective entry is Yule wishes!
What do you wish for this Yule? It can be a certain present, but it can be anything really, like a peaceful moment by the fireplace or a merry gathering with your close ones. To make the picture, use your creativity! It can be a real-life photo, a picture drawn by yourself, a picture made with the help of some fancy artificial intelligence tools. You can even ask an eager artist in your family to make a picture for you (wee hobbits are often eager to fulfil such requests). You can also send a picture of someone else’s Yule wish. If you are a LOTRO player, you can send a screenshot of your wish as well. (And if you are Miss Mariah Carey, no need to send your wish, we all already know about it.) Multiple pictures are welcome!
Here are some instructions for your pictures:
Please send high quality photos (1024×768 pixels at minimum).
Don’t add any effects/text to the photos themselves.
Along with the picture of your wish, please feel free to explain/describe your wish in more detail – we can use this information in the video too.
Please send the pictures to the address mentioned as early as possible – the video will be published close to the end of the calendar.
