Pony in my Garden

There's a pony in my garden and it's eating all the flowers

Nonchalantly standing there; devouring them for hours

Casually ignoring all the wind and rain and showers

How I wonder whose the pony is that's eating all my flowers

Mostly eating yellow flowers, but it also likes the blue

Now I come to think of it, it eats the red ones too

Truly doesn't seem to matter, all of them it chews

At the rapid rate it's munching them, there'll soon be very few

Why, I wonder, did the pony stroll into my lawn today?

Maybe it's a little bored with eating only hay?

Taking not the least bit notice to a word I say

Like a sturdy tree that's rooted firmly; seems it's here to stay

Does the pony have a name? If not, I think I'll call it Keith

Should I find a bounder though, to nab this flower thief

Disregarding all attempts to tempt it off with leaves

Dare not try to prod it, for it's got some large and sturdy teeth

Finally it stops it feasting and then wanders down the lane

Striding off quite briskly with some petals in its mane

Soon I think my garden's safe, but no! It's all in vain

Looking out next morning I can see the pony back again

Still I wonder whose the pony is that's eating all my flowers

Every day it comes along and eats away for hours

Nothing seems to put it off, not wind, nor rain nor showers

There's a pony in my garden and it's eating all the flowers
