The Seasons of Time: A Reflection on Change and Fellowship
By Brawil Bramblefoot
My dear readers, I must first offer my sincerest apologies for my absence. I have been away on a journey, one that has taken me down roads both familiar and new. It is funny, isn’t it, how we can walk the same paths many times and yet see them differently with each passing season?
Now, upon my return, the sun begins to sit lower in the sky, and the days grow shorter. Many see this change and feel the weight of time pressing upon them—time moving forward, seasons passing by, leaving us wondering where the warmth of summer has gone. But let us not forget that with each season comes new wisdom, and just as the trees shed their leaves to make room for fresh growth, so too do we adapt and grow with time.
There’s a certain wisdom in accepting that we are always changing. Just as the autumn leaves fall without regret, we too must learn that the passing of time does not diminish us, but rather, enriches us. The longer nights invite us to gather closer, to share the warmth of friendship and the light of community. In the glow of a fire, or even in the quiet exchange of letters, we find comfort in one another’s company.
And it is here, in our fellowship, that I believe we discover something very special. Life’s burdens may seem lighter when shared. The cold of the evening is not as bitter when friends are near, whether they sit beside us or watch from afar. We are not meant to carry the weight of change on our own, nor should we fear the passage of time, for we are part of something larger—something rooted in the strength of community.
As we journey through the seasons of life, from the brightest summer days to the cool, quiet moments of autumn, let us remember that we are never truly alone. Even in the darkest of nights, we have each other—be it through a kind word, a shared story, or simply knowing that we walk these paths together, no matter the distance.
And speaking of stories, I do hope to hear more of yours, my dear readers. I’ve had a quiet letterbox as of late and would love to hear how you are faring, your own reflections on these changing times, or even a riddle or two. The beauty of sharing in one another’s wisdom, after all, lies in our differences and our conversations. So, do not hesitate to send a note, no matter how small.
Please feel free to write to me at 1 Harrow Road, Songburrow, The Shire—let’s continue this journey together, sharing our thoughts and drawing strength from one another.
Yours in fellowship,
Brawil Bramblefoot
