By Adalbern Tookbanks "The Mathom-house it was called; for anything that Hobbits had no
immediate use for, but were unwilling to throw away, they called a
mathom." - Prologue: Concerning Hobbits, The Fellowship of the Ring
Event details: The
Mathom House is a treasury of the odd and the unique; the historic
residence of Bannockbury Hall is no different. The founder of
Bannockbury Hall Mathom Society, Adalbern Tookbanks, has arranged a
captivating new public exhibition of some of the Society's most
fascinating articles, grouped into a series of talks - the Mathom
Lectures. This is the second in a series of lectures. The theme for the last lecture was artefacts of the Dwarves. This second lecture will feature an interesting an extremely rare selection of Elven relics and cultural souvenirs! Based on Bannockbury Hall Mathom Society's important monthly RP
event, this public version takes place in Michel Delving's prestigious
Mathom House. Here in the large upper hall between two to five mathoms
(as time permits) will be displayed and a short talk given on them. All races of the Free Peoples are very welcome to attend,
though as this is mainly a hobbit event, if you do have a hobbit
character you would like to bring instead that would also be encouraged.
It is also encouraged to come properly dressed and without your
baggage, shields and weapons. Important Note: Access inside the Mathom House requires Acquaintance standing with the Mathom Society. This is easily obtainable by completing quests in the Shire for Gift Mathoms. Should you struggle to get in, please contact Adalbern in-game before the event as mathoms are on-hand to help raise people's standing sufficiently.
