Oldfurlong Shiriff Election: leaflet 2
I have been overwhelmed by the influx of an number of letters with opposing viewpoints and 'gifts' in response to my latest leaflet. This only proofs that my personal viewpoint is, in fact, an expression of a deeply repressed generally shared opinion! One (kin member!) sent over a Hundred cups of hot soup in an disguised attempt to drown me in Medley ! I hate medley soup ! An incident that will be severely dealt with by the soon to be deputy shirriff ! It goes without saying that a community in such fear of stating their true beliefs only strengthens my resolution. Thus now without further ado: before you is the second campaign leaflet fresh from the rolling press ! Even though the editorial had placed a bounder in front of the main entrance I was able to infiltrate via an open window which Byronbrand has left open to let in the cat. Respectfully yours, Dyronbrand Stepwise |

Vote Dyronbrand as deputy shiriff of Oldfurlong
I have tried and tried my utmost to get my election leaflets posted in the Bramblebury Gazette.
However, as a demonstration of the most blatant sensorship imaginable the editors have consistently sent them back ripped into tiny pieces !
Fortunatly, my dear brother Byronbrand left on a mushroom hunt, has passivly lend me the keys to the Bramblebury Gazette's main office. There I had opportunity to spin the pressed and produce my first election campaign leaflet. The first in a series of five !
Through these leaflets I like to articulate the views we all share and I am sure will be the basis of my successfull campain towards becoming the first deputy sheriff of Oldfurlong.
Respectfully yours,
Dyronbrand Stepwise

Burrows Going in Oldfurlong
![]() As new - if reluctant! - deputy mayor of Oldfurlong, I'm writing in to tell you a bit about the burrows still available if you should want to move in with us. We've a good few burrows in the Wending Way area, one I believe in Pleasant Street, another in Myrtle Court, a couple more in Harrow Road and more elsewhere. Plenty of fine spots to put your feet up, and some grand neighbours besides. If you'd be interested in moving in, contact meself or Bovso (who's being a grand help) and we can serve as a sort of go between for buyers and sellers. Following the success of the Oldfurlong Burrow-warming celebrations, look out for the sheriff elections as well! More when we have it, but inhabitants should consider about putting their name forward for the voting when the time comes. I know we've already a couple of willing Hobbits. |

Experienced dowser and well-digger, miss Mebenca Muddymuzzle will find the best water on your lands and dig as deep as needed a solid well which will give you and your garden the clearest and freshest water ! Your neighbours will be jealous ! ...until they hire me, of course... Free estimate, clean and professionnal work, don't hesitate to contact Mebenca by mail or simply when you see her around ! |
Missing chicken!
Reported missing: black feathered chicken called Dora. Her most distinguishing feature is her behind-part ( so to speak ) where eggs usually come out; it has the color of gold.
It is of a great loss to me; as I already promised to sell her to a farmer over at Bree for twenty gold pieces. This sounds much, but is a good investment; given this chicken capacity of laying golden eggs when played a musical tune (only known to me; so dont you try anything). This capacity is apparent due to the true golden feathers as already indicated earlier.
As you understand I like to have it returned. Particulary before it starts raining and any paint may wash off.
I ask the honest finder to return it to me immediatly less any loss of sale will occur.
Yours very kindly theirs,
Dyronbrand. |
Simbo's Poetry Classes

Date: Friday 12th August Class 2 Title: It's Time to Rhyme! Date: Friday 19th August Class 3 Title: Form your Poem Date: Friday 26th August All classes to be held at the following time and place: Time: 7pm BST/2pm Server Time Repeated at: 10pm BST/5pm Server Time Location: The Ivy Bush Inn, Hobbiton And if you can't make any of those classes, full details of the lessons will be subsequently be published in the Bramblebury Gazette. Wanted: Quality Pie Bakers for Competition
Are you a
skilled cook? Do your pies find praise from young and old alike? Do you just know that your pies are the best in the
Shire?
Answer yes or no to any of these questions, and you will be qualified to enter the Green Dragon Pie Baking Competition! Yes, as
part of the coming anniversary party on Friday May 13th, we are proud to hold
the Green Dragon pie baking competition! Competitors will be judged by a jury
of professional pie eaters, and could well run away with a grand prize as well
as the title of Green Dragon Pie Baking Champion! What are you waiting for? If you want to participate, send a letter by the quick post to Lina today and say so! Hope to hear from you! Best
regards, OOC Rules for pie baking competition
The aim of the competition is to find out who bakes the best pies, as well as have some fun on the way!
Obviously, there’s no way to have a jury eat your pie to check the quality of it in-game. That’s why we will ask the participants to describe the basics of their pie, and a jury will choose the pie they think sounds the best. It will be subjective, but then again, most matters of taste are.
To enter the pie baking competition, please do the following
·
Describe
how your pie looks, by a single emote text (for instance, a rather sad pie
could simply be described as “ /e shows a truly bland pie, devoid of any
redeeming qualities “). · When prompted by the jury, answer the following two questions: o
What
are
the main ingredients in your pie? (give a short description of that in
/say, for instance "Well, I used those moldy strawberries I found lyin'
by the dogs in me Gaffer's backyard") o
How
would
you serve this pie, so that we best would enjoy it? (give a short
description of that in /say, for instance "Truth to be told, I wouldn't
serve this pie at all, it's just not right edible, you know")
Try to keep your answers fitting to your character, yet most of all short and simple in case there are many participants! Also, be wary of power-emoting
(for instance, variations of "this is clearly the best, juiciest and
most fabulous pie you have ever laid your eyes on" won't do at all,
since there's no wriggle room for the judges). Try to tempt the judges and be creative, but don't go overboard either!
After all pies have been presented, the jury will deliberate a bit and vote on which pie they thought sounded best. Should votes be tied, a hidden /roll will break the tie. The three top pie bakers will get to choose among some fine prizes, as well as be awarded a title and likely get honorable mentions in the Bramblebury Gazette.
The judges are currently kept as a secret, to avoid the danger of bribes! |
